My name is Joanne Hornsby and I am the owner of Physio4all. Originally from Northern England, I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with an honours degree in Sport & Exercise Science in 1999. Determined to work towards working in the private sector and following my interest in sports related health care, I successfully built up my own sports massage clinic before furthering my qualifications – later graduating from Bradford University in 2003 with an honours degree in physiotherapy.
I have 13 years experience working in the private sector, during which I set up successful private practices in England before relocating to New Zealand in 2010. Soon after arriving in New Zealand i began practicing on the North Shore of Auckland and founded ‘Physio4all’ in 2014. Physio4all has rapidly grown and now offers two professional and convenient practices in Browns Bay and Takapuna.
I have treated many athletes, including working closely with UK athletics as well as professional rugby league and squash players. I am particularly passionate about working closely with children- advising of good posture and providing screening assessments and strengthening programs for them.
My special interests incorporate squash and tennis injuries, complex lumbar, pelvis and cervical problems, shoulder injuries, management of hip and knee injuries & replacements, tendinopathies and all soft tissue injuries. My approach and beliefs are based on manual therapy, muscle energy techniques, fascia release, deep soft tissue massage and exercise rehabilitation.
I am also a fully qualified Oncology Massage Therapist which enables me to provide massage therapy techniques to work safely with the complications of cancer and cancer treatment.
I continually undertake post-graduate training courses and am eager to find opportunities to enhance my professional development.
